2015-12-16 Wed
The Bank of Latvia has released a €5 coin celebrating the 150th anniversary of two of the country’s brilliant minds – Rainis and Aspazija. The coin is of a unique form that requires a special minting technique. It has two detachable parts, one featuring Rainis and the other, Aspazija with red flowers which is a visualisation of her most popular verse collection. The reverse showcases lines of poetry composed by Rainis and Aspazija which they dedicated to each other. The coin is legal tender in Latvia; however, it is hardly found in circulation. The maximum mintage of this coin is 7000 pieces.Latest News
